thick coat, blue eyes -

Strong and courageous
yet liked a belly scratch -
and treats in the afternoon
before a long stretched out nap...

to protect each day -
no one was getting
through you they'd say...
Sneaky, yet good
never saw you misbehave -
just the remnants of all
the little messes you made...
Half a dozen or so
vanished cup cakes -
Unprotected meat
gone right from the plate...
Guarded your bowl
like a prison guard -
circled and trolled daily
your treasured yard...
Each day I will miss
those eyes so blue -
You were a blessing,
